Even a single spark can cause major fires with devastating effects. Particularly at risk are industrial production sites with air-operated or mechanical transport paths or exhaust systems. These devices can transport sparks through an entire site in moments, setting fire to filter systems, silos, or entire production facilities. In the industrial environment, spark extinguishing systems are an established prevention for the targeted containment of this potential ignition source.
The German benchmark for the planning and installation of these as important as complex systems is the Guideline VdS 2106. This standard set of rules, in which decades of practical experience are bundled, is now being published in English for the first time to provide efficient support for fire protection experts worldwide.
„With the Guideline VdS 2106 we offer planners and installers an established standard for comprehensive, effective safety solutions. Another important factor are corresponding instructions for the necessary maintenance and servicing“, explains Claas Baier, division manager of the Technical Inspection Services at VdS.
