On June 14, 2017, the Grenfell Tower fire in London tragically highlighted critical gaps in building safety and fire prevention. Eight years later, ensuring the safety of high-rise buildings remains a priority, and lessons learned from Grenfell continue to guide the sector.
To support fire safety professionals, ANPI hosted a free webinar reviewing key resources, documents, and guidance related to Grenfell and current fire safety regulations. The webinar featured contributions from multiple expert speakers, including John Briggs (Director of CFPA Europe) on the learnings from the Grenfell fire and Elke Mergny (Buildwise, the Belgian Building Research Institute) on fire prevention for building façades. The session focused on practical measures to improve building safety, with a particular emphasis on façade claddings, risk assessment, and compliance with fire prevention standards.
Practical Resources and Guidance During the webinar, participants had access to comprehensive case analyses, official reports, and practical documentation. The content highlighted ongoing risks, safety recommendations, and lessons learned from the Grenfell incident. The session aimed to help professionals understand fire safety challenges in complex buildings and apply best practices in their own work.
