Nominees for Fire & Security Matters Awards 2025 announced

The FPA and its staff have been nominated in two categories in this year’s FSM Awards and is sponsoring a third

Nominations for the 2025 Fire & Security Matters Awards have been announced with Suppression Manager at the FPA, Isabel Elswood shortlisted for the Fire Industry Woman of the Year award, whilst the FPA has been nominated for the Training Provider of the Year award.

“Being shortlisted twice is a fantastic achievement for the team and reflects very positively both on Isabel’s work and on the FPA as an organisation,” said FPA Director of Training, Claire Wright.

With a nomination in this category recognising the delivery of outstanding external training in either security or fire safety, she added: “We pride ourselves on the care and expertise we provide, whether that be through our testing and laboratory work, or through our high-quality training courses.

“Appropriate training is a vital component in ensuring greater competency across the fire safety sector continues and the FPA will continue to drive standards in this area.”

On hearing of her own nomination, Isabel said, “I’m really pleased to be shortlisted for the Fire Industry Woman of the Year, and it is particularly encouraging to see the recognition of women’s contributions to the fire protection industry.”

The full list of nominees for Fire Industry Woman of the Year is Alice Ham, Avene Furness, Charleigh Hill, Dara Heneghan, Dr. Hóng Liáng, Isabel Elswood, Jolene Taylor, Karen Byard, Lisa Morley Burgess, Mabel Higgins, Nicola John, and Sophia Mogford-Revess.

The awards ceremony will be held at the CBS Arena in Coventry on 5 June 2025, where the FPA is also sponsoring the Fire Safety Manager of the Year award. This category is designed to recognise a fire safety manager who has made a significant contribution to the implementation or enhancement of fire safety standards within either their own or a client organisation.
